Gresham Palace is a celebrated example of Budapest Art Nouveau, built for a commercial city and later transformed into a luxury hotel.
A prestigious building at the Chain Bridge
The palace was developed on Széchenyi István Square during the early twentieth century. Its flowing ornament, wrought metalwork and decorated interior reflect the artistic ambitions of the Art Nouveau period.
Restoration and a new purpose
Over time the building's uses changed, and extensive restoration helped revive its architectural details. The landmark now houses a hotel, while its exterior continues to define the view towards Chain Bridge.
